The basic concept of SPARE is to transform a global issue into practical activities of schoolchildren and other people.
SPARE helps us to answer the question: How can we get necessary energy services and at the same time reduce the harmful impact on nature? This partly depends on energy resources available, but as much from lifestyle, public utilities, the technologies in use and the knowledge of the actual user. The challenge for all of us is to change our consumption by adapting our lifestyle, apply optimal technology and utilize the least harmful energy sources.
A number of the 0-cost energy efficiency measures have been developed for the SPARE based on the slogan "Think globally, act locally". Being aware of various conditions, practical energy measures have been developed to fit three main energy properties, which cover most communities:
• Abundance of energy followed by excess consumption
• Inefficient centralized system followed by low efficiency
• Poorly developed energy system followed by lack of availability
SPARE is a basis for looking for solutions for the benefit of present and future generations.
