Authors: V. Shinkarenko and L. Zhirina

November 11, 2010 in the Small Business College № 4 (Moscow) celebrated the International Day of energy saving, which was held in the school curriculum and was devoted to the use of resources and energy (SPARE). Vice President of International Informatization Academy, Professor Vladislav Shinkarenko told the students and teachers about the importance of the program SPARE in light of the requirements of the RF Law "About energy saving and efficiency." Professor V. Shinkarenko summed up the poll of students on the basics of saving, which had been held at the college in September and October 2010.

Program Coordinator in the Central Federal District Russia SPARE ,Associate professor L. Zhirina and Professor V. Shinkarenko began to collaborate actively in 2009. They also jointly prepared activities for the day 11.11.2010 in Moscow.

The survey of students by level of preparation for energy saving showed that 42 percent of students at the conclusion of international experts, can be considered "a good example for the rest", and another 48 percent of students have "a lot of good habits that can serve as a basis for further work on yourself." It means that 90 percent are ready for saving!

Teachers used the survey results and decided to actively involve students in energy saving not only at home but also during the study, in the college. The team decided to use college savings for improving classrooms and buying a modern equipment to imakethe quality of student training better.

This idea was proposed by the director of college, honored teacher of Russian, Ph.D., E. Suvorov, and her deputy, candidate of military sciences, professor N. Matveichuk.

Students supported the decision. But they also discussed their own interesting proposal. Students suggested that the saved money can be added to their scholarship. The scholarship in the college is only 600 rubles (20 dollars)! "To convert energy into a scholarship - it would be cool!" - said one of the students in the video, which told about the simplest methods of energy savings. But unfortunately, this idea is still impossible to realize: the financing rules don’t allow to do this. The college will still be thinking about how to encourage students in a better way as a result of energy saving.
