SPARE in Russia


Russia has been a part of SPARE since 1996. SPARE in Russia is coordinated by Interregional public youth environmental organization ‘Friends of the Baltic’ (with support of Norges Naturvernforbund) and Inforce Europe (International European network for sustainable energy)

’Friends of the Baltic ’ as an national coordinator of SPARE and public organization is coordinating SPARE in different regions, contribute to the introduction of SPARE to school and after school education, distribute SPARE materials, gives methodical support to pedagogues, participate in introducing energy saving measures and renewable sources of energy use. Public organizations interact with authorities, centers of energy efficiency, educational institutions, national and international organizations.

SPARE presented at the WECF side event within UNFCCC international meeting in Bonn.

Small scale sustainable energy solutions developed within SPARE and the role of nuclear power in climate change were among the topics when Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF) met in Bonn at the UNFCCC Climate Change Talks (Subsidiary Bodies 28), where delegates from all countries are cooporating in technical working groups to prepare for the Climate negotiations later this year in Poznan, Poland.

International SPARE meeting in Karaganda 25th-27th of April 2008

SPARE coordinators from 11 countries have in the end of April been gathered for international SPARE meeting in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. The coordinators have been discussing results and development of educational and practical energy activities. The activity of SPARE is higher than ever, with 3 000 schools and 150 000 pupils participating in the project during the educational year 2007-2008.



All Russian SPARE seminar in Nizhnij Novgorod, September 11-12, 2007

At the seminar regional SPARE coordinators form all 7 Federal districts of Russia (from Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhnij Novgorod, Volgograd, Novorossijsk, Bryansk, St.Petersburg, Murmansk/Apatity, Arkhangelsk and Karelian Republic, so as international coordinator Dag Arne Hoystad from Norwegian Society for Conservation of Nature.

Presentation of the exhibition on climate and energy for SPARE teachers.

October 25 in St.Petersburg Friends of the Baltic NGO has organized informational-methodical round table on SPARE. Within this round table the demonstrational informational and educational Ecocentrum and its exhibition on climate and energy was presented to the teachers, working on SPARE at schools and centers for additional education in St.Petersburg and Leningrad region, and for partners - Academy for post-graduate pedagogical education, and several NGOs working in educational sphere.

SPARE made contacts in Belgrade

SPARE made contacts at the VI Environmental Ministerial Conference of Easter Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA).
The Sixth Ministerial Conference "Environment for Europe" (EfE) was held in Belgrade (Serbia) from 10 to 12 October 2007. SPARE participated with exhibition stand, presented by SPARE team, including Norwegian Society for Conservation of Nature, BIOM (Kyrgyzstan), For the Earth (Tajikistan), Friends of the Baltic (Russia), Eco-vision (Georgia).
