Become a SPARE-partner!

SPARE (School Project on Application of Resources and Energy) is the worlds largest educational project on environment, energy and climate. The project started in 1996 and is now implemented in 16 countries, with more than 3 000 schools and 130 000 pupils participating every year.

SPARE competition
Every educational year SPARE runs an international competition on best works from schools on environment, energy and climate. The works we receive tell about high interest and creativity in solution of environmental challenges linked to energy!

Every year children and teachers from the SPARE countries send to the competition a total of 500-1000 projects. A national jury assesses the works and appoints 5 projects from each country, these works qualifies for the international final with an international jury of experts which assesses the works and appoints the winners. Nominations are announced for both pupils and teachers.

Practical energy measures
Energy efficiency is dramatically low in most of our project countries, and we see repeatedly that even simple and cheap measures for improvement of energy situation are not realized. SPARE aims to increase knowledge and reduce barriers for application of low cost measures on energy saving and renewables. In 2007 we did practical projects in almost all our project countries, covering windows restoration, improved cooking stoves, insulation of educational buildings, solar heating, solar water pasteurization and energy efficient greenhouses.

SPARE has become a powerful instrument for awareness raising in the areas of environment, energy saving and climate. We reach out broad with our work, from the suburbs of Warsaw and alleys of Moscow to mountain villages in Caucasus and Pamir.

What can you do?
If you support our ideas, why not support our project? We see that our work really matters, and that what we do really helps. But limited resources makes it difficult to implement our activities even broader. We are interested in cooperation with everybody that thinks our work is important. The cooperation can be to support the international competition, educational activities, awareness raising, practical energy measures or other projects we do in the SPARE countries.
