SPARE conference on energy and climate in the EECCA region.

Norges Naturvernforbund/Friends of the Earth Norway has for several years cooperated with NGO partners in EECCA region on education, practical projects and policy development around energy and climate issues. We have now got the possibility to invite most of our NGO cooperation partners to Oslo, and on the 3rd of June we use the opportunity to arrange a conference on energy and climate in the Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA-region).

Our aim with the conferences is to highlight the challenges and potential solutions particularly regarding climate mitigation in the EECCA region. Still being a blind spot on the map at least for most Norwegians, this region is extremely vulnerable for climate change and has huge potential for improvements of energy production and consumption and this way take part in the global fight against climate change. Based on our experiences from low cost and decentralised energy projects, we will discuss how different low cost solutions can be scaled up and contribute to climate mitigation.

Along with our NGO partners we are also inviting representatives from authorities in all the countries. Most introductions on the conference will be given from the EECCA partners.
We also invite representatives from Norwegian decision makers and authorities, scientific institutions and organisations to the conference.

This is an occasion where NGOs and authorities from many of the EECCA countries will be present, and we believe this will be a good opportunity for other organisations working within the same field in this region to meet, discuss and establish contacts. It will also be possible to meet with other participant’s individually.
