Round table on renewable energy in Khujand

A round table on renewable energy issues took place in Khujand city, Sudg oblast at 20 of February 2009. The event was organized by “Little Earth” Environmental organization with support from Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature and assistance from Youth Group on protection of environment (Khujand).



The round table provide to it’s participants (including scientists, public international and local NGO and representative from private sector) an opportunity to discuss the problems and perspectives of renewable energy sources development in Tajikistan, to share experience and to present it’s own vision of the issue.

During the round table there are speeches and presentations of assistant professor of Khujand State University about research on solar energy use, general director of JV “Samo” about experience of the company on solar photovoltaic and wind turbines installations, head of NGO “Sudgnavovar” regarding modern gas burn plants and director of “Little Earth” about contradictions in energy policy were made.
Representatives from JV “Samo” brought various equipment including solar photovoltaic panels, electric warm floor and energy saving bulbs for demonstration.

«It is important Важно to develop educational programs and retraining courses on renewable energy and energy saving for local specialists. There is a lack of science and technology base for wide dissemination of renewable energy sources in Tajikistan », - underline Mr. Akramov Y, the energy consultant of NGO «Nau».

Mr. Tosikhojaev M, general director of JV «Samo», mentioned, that in spite of some steps to develop the renewable energy which were undertaken by the government in previous years, these programs usually fragmented and don’t have a long term base.

«I am sure that we have to bring these issues up to discuss them on a high level. Government has to declare renewable energy and energy efficiency as one of the priority within energy sector development», - said Mr. Hasanov N, head of Public organization «Sugdnavovar».

Participants of round table confirmed that there is an urgent need for a law on Renewable energy sources, which could form conditions for clean technology embedding and promotion and renewable energy market development. They also agree that the government should provide tax remissions and some guarantees for those organizations and individuals who dealing with production, installation and other service related to renewable energy sources.
