Outlook at future resources of energy in Azerbaijan

“However Azerbaijan is famous for its oil, the climate here makes it possible to apply the potential energy of sun and wind as alternative energy resources. Fast development of agriculture actualizes the application of biogas for heating the houses”. These opinions were discussed during the seminar “outlook at future resources of energy” held by Azerbaijan Youth Alliance, within the international energy saving weeks, for teachers and Methodists, in Gabala.

The representatives from the Educational administration of the region, teachers, the methodists of the Ecological Centre under the Ministry of Education, attended the one-day’s seminar.

According to Farman Hadjiyev, the director of the education sector of Gabala, it is essential to study the problems of the energy saving at schools and widely informing the pupils about necessity of the on-going work within the project. “The problem of the application of resources of energy is not actual only in our country but also, in the whole world.”

Nowadays, many countries work on the special programs on rational application of nonrenewable resources of energy. The analogous program is being developed in Azerbaijan, as well. Therefore, it should be considered as a support for the program conducted by government to inform the pupils about the current subject. Skills and habits for saving resources of energy is necessary to teach from early school years – stated Farman Hadjiyev. Ikram Salacoglu, the director of the Ecological center of the Gabala region, noted the necessity of popularization the subject of climate change at schools.

Today, the people all over the whole world are anxious about the global climate changes going on. Especially from this point of view, we are much interested at informing the pupils about the problems of the global climate changes. It should be regarded as a positive case that, you included the exercises on this problem into the curriculum of the beginning classes. It is essential to begin explaining the necessity and the urgency of the studied subject to the pupils from the early years – he added. According to Agayeva, the director of the circle, it is possible to teach this theme integrating into the other different subjects at school. “For instance, it is possible to learn this theme in an integrative way with geography, biology and physics”. “At the same time, it is essential to adapt the theme upon the age level of the pupils.” – She said. As the director of the circle, she mentioned the problems that most of her colleagues encounter during the work. “Lack of visual aids causes problems during the lessons. We need training aids which are accounted for the different age levels of the pupils and teachers. As I mentioned above, it is possible to teach this theme integrating into the other different subjects at school. However the lack of the visual aids may decrease the effectiveness of the studied subject. It would be desirable to prepare special booklet, posters and video materials on the studied subject, as well, to use during the lessons” – underlined Agayeva.

The pupils discussed the plan of the event within the program and drew up the working plan, at the seminar.

At the end of the seminar the pupils received prepared aids on the following themes: “climate change: reasons and results”, “Energy saving”, Resources of energy of Azerbaijan”
