Togrul Nuri who presented SPARE project at TUNZA International Environmental Conference held in Stavangerd on June 17-21, started his speech with these words. "I would like to talk about international school project SPARE, which provides detailed and valuable information on saving energy resources, using alternate energy sources, and which recommends us to isolate doors and windows in classrooms for keeping energy in”.
A pupil from Azerbaijan who gave information on SPARE international schoolchildren's program which is working to make schoolchildren advocates of the idea of using sustainable energy resources, presented program map to the participants. He stated, that 16 countries, 3000 schools and 130.000 pupils were involved in the program, the key idea of which was to transfer global issues to practice.
T.Nuri who provided a brief information of project activities in Azerbaijan stated that, “Azerbaijan joined SPARE program in 2002 year. Schoolchildren's program which is implemented by Youth Community of Azerbaijan, is operating at 150 schools in 19 regions. Trainings, different activities, competitions and etc. were held within the framework of the program”.
In his presentation the pupil from Azerbaijan shared his views on what he had learned within the framework of international schoolchildren's program: “SPARE provides valiable information on correlation between environmental problems and energy consumption, climatic changes, oil pollution, pollution, etc. It teaches us to isolate doors and windows in classrooms to keep energy in and to use solar energy”.
T.Nuri stated that, another advantage of schoolchildren's program was that it allowed to share the knowledge with parents, other schoolchildren and close persons. “This program is built on cooperation of schoolchildren with parents and other stakeholders. We share our knowledge and information, draw pictures and take photos reflecting environmental problems. All what we have seen help us to understand the importance of support and efforts of schoolchildren for solution of environmental problems today and in future”.
“SPARE is a very interesting program for schoolchildren and You are welcome to join in promoting sustainable energy!”, - he added.
