At the seminar regional SPARE coordinators form all 7 Federal districts of Russia (from Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhnij Novgorod, Volgograd, Novorossijsk, Bryansk, St.Petersburg, Murmansk/Apatity, Arkhangelsk and Karelian Republic, so as international coordinator Dag Arne Hoystad from Norwegian Society for Conservation of Nature.
The seminar was organized on the basis of eco-center Dront by movement "Help River" and Friends of the Baltic NGO (Russian SPARE coordinator) with the support of Norwegian Society for Conservation of Nature
SPARE is a basis of the program "Education for sustainable development in the field of climate and energy" of International Socio-Ecological Union. It was a reason why most of NGOs, developing SPARE in the regions, where ISEU members.
Seminar participants discussed development of SPARE in the regions and shared their results. Now 255 Russian schools are deeply involved to the project, and in more than 650 schools teachers use SPARE materials for their lessons and out-of-school work with children. About 18000 pupils participate in SPARE in various forms: school energy inspections, practical energy saving at schools and at homes, actions, performances, festivals and competitions.
SPARE NGOs has got a new partners and new achievements. Far East Energy company had supported regional competition of schoolchildren energy saving projects, Governor of Nizhnij Novgorod rewarded pupils made stand on energy efficiency with his regional Diploma. In St.Petersburg, Irkutsk, Bryansk, Murmansk and Karelia SPARE NGOS work actively with institutions for teachers re-training, provide short courses for teachers on energy issue.
Ural Eco-Union had organized in Yekaterinburg public actions on climate and energy, where demonstrated physical and chemical experiments, showing connection between energy processes and energy.
The energy model of schoolboy from Nizhnij Novgorod, which he has made within SPARE, was presented to President Putin at the exhibition within Moscow International Avia Saloon.
Dag Arne Hoystad spoke about importance of SPARE work for decreasing human contribution to climate change. Norwegian Society for Conservation of Nature support NGO work on informing society on the climate and energy issue. In particular in each Federal Districts SPARE NGOS will organize next year the seminars devoted to connection of global climate issue and local work for promotion of energy efficiency an energy saving.
