Workshops whit the slogan “Energy Saving; Past, Present and Future” was held in the mountain regions of South-Georgia. This very successful experiment gave possibility for more than 100 teachers and schoolchildren to learn about the energy saving program SPARE.
Students had opportunity to complete energy saving program. Teachers’ responsibilities became high as they have information of this program, as a result of above-mentioned training students show high ability, vitality and learning skills.
The firs part of the seminar was dedicated to the of global ecological problems, presentation of the educational textbooks and working notebooks, and explanation of basic principles of sustainability.
National coordinator informed students and teachers about international SPARE competition.
The second half of the day was devoted to the workshops and presentations of working groups.
Totally four working groups had been organized; two groups of teachers and two of students.
The task was:
Make a list of completed environmental projects
Haw they could develop offered projects
Make a list of a new ideas and offers connected to sustainability particularly to energy saving.
Teachers’ proposals:
• Make a specially constricted boiler-room to burn sawdust;
• Produce a posters showing haw solar energy transforms to electricity, possibility of use hydrogen, constriction of heating water system by solar energy;
• During New Year vacations prepare and hang special greeting cards on fir trees and help to change poachers mind not to cat the tree.
Students’ proposals:
• Issue regional newspaper;
• Produce advert video tracks;
• Plant trees;
• Locate three free boxes in classrooms to classify junk;
• Some ideas haw to use dispatched items; plastics, melted candles, may be somehow making souvenirs or like build a greenhouse from used bottles.
Students and teachers proposed
• Go for summer camping to realize all theory students learn during school lessons
• Invite energy specialists to make an energy audit for schools for future building warming actions.
Almost all participants showed big interest to meet and get introduced other schools and students of their region, country and internationally.
