SPARE is more than a school program, because it not only gives knowledge, but also includes schoolchildren to the practical activities, motivate them to apply their findings. SPARE helps to make schools and homes more energy effective in practice. Findings of children in the field of energy saving may be useful for school administration, for their parents, friends, neighbours.
SPARE on the national level is managed by NGOs in cooperation with schools and other institutions. It includes promotion of new approaches to "education for sustainable development", spreading educational materials, various activities for involving kids and adults to the practical energy saving work.
SPARE forms active citizenship and gives children the feeling of participation in a important international movement. Their contribution is needed right now, and in the future as well, to reach the global sustainable development goal.
SPARE activities thus create a fruitful basis for cooperation between schools, the authorities, decision makers and environmental organizations.
