Vasil Levski school from Razgrad, Bulgaria, is 100 years old. On December 21, 2010 the school presented an ambitious program of participation in SPARE project. National SPARE coordinator Todor Todorov opened the «Renewable energy in Bulgaria — Proposals for action» exhibition in the school entrance hall in attendance of local authorities, business and mass media representatives.

Principal Diana Parvanova, teachers and Eco-club members held a press conference and announced SPARE events in the next school year.
— Participation in SPARE competition;
— SPARE school projects presentation. A meeting with local communities to promote sustainable energy measures.
— Open lessons and excursions to the solar panels park near Shumen.
— Creation of solar panels and connection to power grids that provide electricity to the school. This project is based on the works of the school’s Eco-club.
A fountain with solar panels for a waterfall will be installed in the school yard. A solar system will be also set up for night illumination of the clock tower which is a symbol of the oldest school in Razgrad. The implementation of this part of the program will run with expert and financial assistance of Razgrad Regional Development Agency which is affiliated with the school in its activities on environmental education.

Pupils from the Eco-club presented a figure of «Shrek» that was created from plastic bottles and aluminum cans collected by Eco-club participants. 7th grade student Niya Vassileva explained that this is the way students would like to draw attention to the unused possibilities of recycling.
We expect great results and exciting experience in the education for sustainable energy in Vassil Levski school in Razgrad — combining the high goals of teachers with the enthusiasm of the students.
