On 7 May 2011, a meeting of the Young SPARE Club members was held in School # 284 in Bilajari Settlement of Baku where students are actively involved in the international school project on the use of resources and energy.
The Club was founded in 2008 on the initiative of Sevinc Abbasova, a geography teacher. Due SPARE activities she won the Teacher of Year Award among teachers of secondary schools across the Country.
The meeting was attended by permanent members of the Club, as well as a group of seventh grade students wishing to become members of the SPARE team.
Senior schoolchildren demonstrated examples of pollution of the world oceans and atmosphere with acid rain, use of alternative energy sources and spoke about the threats of nuclear power plants on environment.
