The Child Academy was opened with the support of SPARE

On January 15, 2011 the first session of the Child Academy took place in Baku as part of SPARE project. The Youth Union of Azerbaijan is the organizer of the Child Academy. Participants of the Academy are schoolchildren ages 12 to 14 from different schools that actively take part in SPARE events.



The main goals of the Academy are increasing of environmental knowledge of schoolchildren, their immediate participation in environmental protection and the integration into international school projects. Session will take place three times a month in Azerbaijani and English languages.

Andrea Florea, the international trainer from Romania held the first session. She spoke about acid rains, air and water pollution, the population growth, the global food crisis, the influence of carbon dioxide, the deforestation etc. Schoolchildren discussed these issues and talked about the ideal environmentally friendly city. Also they played some environmental games.

At the end of the session the participants watched “HOME” the movie on environmental issues and the ways to solve the problems.
